The boomloom BOSS! Cherrywood

Limited edition! The boomloom BOSS in cherrywood. This is a special wood version of our patternmaking loom the BOSS. We are crazy about these. They are small-batch looms in cherrywood, made for us in Salem, NY by bespoke furniture makers New Collar Goods. The simple design assembles with 12” hard maple dowels from Maine-based wood supply company Kemp Woods. Our new patented design makes weaving fast & easy, even for complete beginners. Interchangeable pattern bars let you make beautiful patterns easily & effortlessly.

These are incredibly well made and simple weaving tools. They are sturdy, stable and comfortable to use on a table or a lap. The cherrywood is beautifully finished with a natural oil finish and feels wonderful in the hand. They come apart easily for storage or travel and can be lengthened with longer 1/2” diameter dowels, readily available in stores and online from suppliers including hardware stores. 

Weaving area dimensions are 6.5” wide x about 8” long to just below the pattern bar, 10” total length. EPI is about 6. Worsted, DK, or Bulky weight yarn works perfectly, as does thicker rug-tufting yarn.

• One starter kit with enough yarn and warp thread to make one piece. Yarn colors will vary but will be a combination of chunky and worsted-weight all-wool yarn in jewel-tone colors
• One wood tapestry needle custom-made for us as well as a plastic shuttle-type needle that can be loaded with yarn, and thinner tapestry needles
• One small hardwood beater comb
• Our cotton logo drawstring bag for travel and storage

TWILL Pattern Bar:

TWILL pattern bar! Pattern bar to make a diagonal woven stripe with 2-2 twill. Create beautiful diagonal and zigzag patterns with one or more weft colors, simply by passing the needle through the shed in the same way as weaving plain weave. I promise — anyone can do this. Pattern bar does the hard work for you so you can be creative! 

DIAMOND pattern bar:

Diamond pattern bar creates diamond or X pattern automatically as you weave. Based on 2/2 twill. Create beautiful patterns with one or more weft colors, simply by passing the needle through the shed in the same way as weaving plain weave. I promise — anyone can do this. When you rotate the pattern bar after each row, it creates a woven pattern that reverses when you reverse the rotation of the bar. Simply by changing directions, you can create  infinite variations on the central motif.

This loom arrives un-assembled. To assemble, slide dowels into the pre-drilled holes. NOTE! The dowels will fit loosely, and the frame will be wiggly until it is warped. After warping it will be tight, with very little play in the frame.
