Meet the Artists:

"Mihrab" Beanie- requires US 2 (2.75mm) and US 4 (3.5mm) 16" circular needles and US 4 DPNs

Mihrab is inspired by Arabic architecture, specifically Islamic embellishments. Mihrab means sanctuary in Arabic ,and it's also the name of the area that an Imam leads people to pray. Sometimes it's embellished with floral designs or geometric designs, and at times it's just minimalist, but the shape of the Mihrab is always the same.

Sultan, is a Nonbinary Chicago based pattern designer originally from Saudi Arabia. They are the dyer behind Alwan Sultan. From Sultan: I dye self striping sock yarn and I go where the spirit moves me when it comes to my creative process. I dye in very small batches hence my motto Slow Fiber!

Alwan means colors in Arabic, Alwan Sultan came from my love of dyeing and self striping yarn. I have been dyeing yarn since 2016 and haven't stopped since!
I love experimenting, mixing and playing with colors. Rainbows are my favorite. I take inspiration from everywhere, especially nature. But as much as I love bright colors, I really love dyeing moody and earthy tones. Don't get me wrong though, I will still be dyeing neons too!

"Soul", "Illuminate", & "Nourish" yarn-

Chastity is the dyer behind Kitty Pride Fibers based in Chicago IL. She loves color and has a huge passion for the fiber arts as well as other arts and crafts. Chastity very much enjoys sharing her art with other people, and you can usually find her playing in the dye pots whenever inspiration strikes.
.
She enjoys working and collaborating with other makers, teaching her knitting students, uplifting those around her, and bringing joy wherever possible. Late night dye sessions usually include dancing and Disney music with lots of signing. As a Black woman and single mom, it's important to Chastity to be a role model for her young daughter.

"Lu'lu" (Pearl in arabic) Stitch Marker set-

Meet Corinne, the dyer behind Hawari Bazaar. As a true craft enthusiast, Corinne likes to dabble in many different mediums (many of which can be found in her shop from time to time), but her first love is color. From soft pastels to deep jewel tones, Corinne specializes in creating bright, speckled & variegated colorways.
Inspiration for her makes can be found from all around, such as her travels, nature, fandoms, her Arab-American & Muslim culture, even a fancy word can spark inspiration.

Working with, and uplifting, fellow BIPOC artists & makers is a very important to all of us at Hawari Bazaar, and getting the opportunity to work with Chastity & the rest of the BIPOC box makers is truly an honor.

*Please note: Each pearl is unique, so the size, shape and color will differ slightly for all the stitch markers.*

Indian Copper Karahi Dinner bowl

West Ridge is a thriving and diverse melting pot of cultures, including Jewish, Middle Eastern, and Southeast Asian populations. The most well-known area is probably Devon Avenue, the heart of Chicago's Indian and Pakistani communities.

The Karahi bowl is sourced locally from various shops in the Devon Ave neighborhood in Chicago. The karahi may be found in almost every household and restaurant in India. It is an ideal utensil meant for serving Indian dishes like biryani, rice, pulao, vegetable curries, non-vegetarian dishes and much more. Most often, when we serve food at the dinner table it gets cold very fast. This karahi has an outer layer of copper that helps in retaining the heat for a longer duration. Moreover, the inner layer is made of food-grade stainless steel, which is strong enough to withstand high heat.
