Beginning Brioche Knitting: Unlock the Squishy Magic

Brioche stitch is famous for its lofty, squishy fabric that’s perfect for cozy scarves, hats, and shawls. If you’ve ever admired those stunning two-color patterns and wondered how they’re made, this is your chance to learn. We’ll demystify the techniques and have you knitting with confidence in no time.

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn:

· Brioche Foundations: Understand the unique structure and rhythm of brioche stitch.
· Core Stitches: Master the Brioche Knit (BRK) and Brioche Purl (BRP) stitches.
· Two-Color Magic: Create a stunning, fully reversible beanie using two contrasting colors.
· How to Read Brioche Patterns: Decipher special abbreviations and chart symbols unique to brioche.
· Special Techniques: Practice the best cast-on methods to maintain brioche’s signature elasticity.
· Mistake Recovery: Learn how to safely "tink" (unknit) and pick up dropped stitches in brioche without frustration.

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner - Students must be comfortable with casting on, knitting, and purling. Experience with increasing/decreasing is helpful but not required.

Materials Needed:

· 2 skeins of Worsted weight yarn in 2 contrasting colors
· US 2.5 (3mm) and US 4 (3.5mm) 16-inch circular needles
· US 4 (3.5mm) double-pointed needles 
· Tapestry needle
· Stitch markers
· Scissors
